You might want to contact the retailer where you purchased your Proform to find out about repairs. The motors simply wear out in some of those treadmills. If it runs without the weight on it, it sounds like the motor doesn't have enough pep any more to turn the treadmill with the additional weight. On the other hand, it could be something else that requires a minor adjustment.
According to Runners World, about 7-10 years is the life expectancy of a treadmill. Those with lower continuous run horsepower bite the dust sooner. Speaking of dust, it is the number one killer of treadmills. Once a week take a dry cloth and wipe dust away between the deck and the belt. Keeping floor around your treadmill clean and dust free is also important. Use only the lubrication that came with your treadmill or one that is recommended for treadmills. Any other type of lubricant contains solvents and other ingredients that will seriously harm your treadmill. Check your owner's manual for troubleshooting and maintenance tips.
