Preface
VENICE CRONOTRIATHLON wants to re-establish a triathlon race in Venice-Lido, where in 1986 one of the first and historical triathlon was organized!!
The race is On Sunday May 2nd 2010. It is a sprint triathlon (750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run); it is open to pro and amateur athletes. This year it is introduced a new device that allows individual and teams timing tracks. This represents an innovative and unique formula that makes special this event in Italy.
Program for the TRIATHLON SPRINT
The race is located in Alberoni’s area according to this program.
On Saturday from 4 to 6 pm racing packages pick up, it will be offered a cocktail of welcome.
Sunday May 2nd starting 8.30 am possibility of picking racing package up at Alberoni piazzale.
Starting 10.30 am transition area is open in the central area of Alberoni square.
1.25 pm start of Triathlon sprint from Alberoni piazzetta. From 1.30pm to 3.00 pm roads will be reserved for the bike race. Bike track is the route Alberoni-Malamocco for a total of two laps of 20 km.
The event is planned to end at around 4pm with awards held on Alberoni piazzetta.
Route’s description
In 2009 Giro D’Italia cycling race a time trial stage was in the area of Venice-Lido and Alberoni. Following this extraordinary experience it was thought to organize VENICE CRONOTRIATHLON, an event that might have a similar spectacular success.
Swimming part is in the lagoon side to avoid the waves of the sea. Each racer (individual or team) will start his/her race set at 15 second a part from the following racer.
Bike: from the transition area located in Alberoni the direction is toward “punta degli alberoni” to roundabout ferry and then in direction Malamocco, for a total of 20 km for two laps. Roads will be reserved for the race and no traffic will be allowed.
Run: from the transition area located in Alberoni piazzetta, a run of 5Km is held to lungomare , zona pineta and end at 300m from starting area.
Athletes who will participate
Around 400 athletes from all Italy and other foreign countries will participate to this event. In particular many famous elite athletes, between them the local Alberto Casadei and Massimo Cigana.
Award 1000 euro
ORGANIZATION The City of Venice made possible this event, which was organized by Ligerteam-Keyline in collaboration with Venezia triathlon.
REGISTRATION
In order to register to this race the racer must have FITRI license. Who does not hold a FITRI license can buy a daily license for the cost of E 6 to be added to the registration fee.
Registration fee:
cronotriathlon individual 25 euro
Team race (min 3 athletes max 5), 100 euro.
