1.
At the Stations is there Water only, or a Gatorade type drink?
- there is also Gatorade type drink available (each 2nd station). There are
a lot of refreshment stations (approx. each 4k).
2.
What kinds of foods? Gels? Pretzels? PowerBars? Soup?

And how often is there food?
Bananas, raisins, chocolate, fruits, sugar cubes, cakes... (last year we had also Gels but I do not know yet for this year). It is usually enough.
(nobody complained about that until now. The food is available approx on each 2nd station.
3.
What are the average Temperature ranges for the past Marathons (at the
start? finish? high point?)?
Usually the temperatures in that time of the year are:
In case of nice weather 25 °C in the lowland and around 15 °C in the
mountain area.
In case of bad weather 15 °C in the lowland and around 5 °C in the mountain area.
4.
How sturdy sneakers/trail shoes? (What kind are you wearing?)
I am afraid I can not answer this question because this depends on what you prefer. But keep in mind that the track is not easy , many stones are on the way and also there is some water with mud. I wear also road shoes but this should not be the rule! Maybe all terrain shoes are OK.
5.
How steep? Poles? Rock Scramble? Perhaps you can tell me what percent grade is the steepness?
There are some very steep parts.(also steep downhill parts). You can use the poles if you want. There is no scramble neccessary. The best runners are running all the way.
6.
Have you seen a trip write up that a past runner may have written about the Race (in English)?
There is one nice report available but in german only:
If you are able to read (or see the pictures) have a look at:
http://www.boltez.si/maraton/press/2003/arhiv7.htm
7.
Can we do shedding (or picking up?) of clothes, poles, at the Aid Stations,
and will the gear be taken back to the Finish?
- Yes all this is possible. Personal things could be transported to 2 aid
stations (km 24 (Kofce) and km 34(Dolga njiva)).
8.
I note there are water stations - from yor experience however, do most runners carry bottles/camelbacks?
I think there is no need to carry any bottles /camelbacks with you. There will be enough refreshment stations.
The weather: It could be quite hot , but it could be also very rainy. The expected temperatures are from 5-20 Celsius.
In case of rain the rainjacket is recommended(and spare socks maybe). The running surface is not very easy to run (in the mountain area).
We were quite lucky with the weather so far. There was no rain up to now.
9.
Where is it best to stay ,near the finish line or closer to the start
line? (50k race)
We plan to organize morning Bus from finish(Jezersko) to start at 6.00 AM. (6.30 in Preddvor , 7.00 in Tržič). I would recommend you to stay in Jezersko (finish)if this is not to early for you. We also plan to organize transport from finish to start in the afternoon, but this might be not so comfortable for you because the time of the bus departure will be fixes on the finish place.
The application form: I would recommend you to use the Internet application form which you can found on
www.boltez.si/maraton .
We will put you on the start list if you enter your data.
The entry fee can be paid when you arrive here (on the pasta party for example).
